Kazara created the topic: Shroud of the Avatar: Oracle Colossus Scene - Now In Release 42

Now that all three paths (Truth, Love, and Courage) are playable we have begun work on the Finale part of the plot, aka The Path of the Oracle. One of the crucial scenes of that path is the Oracle Colossus. This is of course the famous depiction of the Oracle from the concept painting by Stephen Daniele inspired by passages from The Sword of Midras prequel novel by Tracy Hickman. This scene was built as a placeholder and is now being polished into a final state.

More than a day's journey west of Kiln across the barren plains of Midmaer lay sandy wastes at the base of the Blackblade Mountains. Here rest crumbling ruins containing enormous effigies that have become associated with the Oracle in recent centuries. These ruins were once a part of a greater, now forgotten, ancient city nestled in nearby hills that were long ago torn asunder when the Hellfire Rift was opened as the Avatars of the murky past waged war with the gods, presaging the Cataclysm of the Sundered Moon. Now only a handful of notable features rise above the sands here and there, including not only the tall "Guardians" that flank the entrance into the mountains themselves, but also the vast winged, horned "Oracle Colossus" now only partially rises from the lava of the Rift itself, surrounded by the last, sad vestiges of what was one a metropolis of antique splendor.

It is said in legends that after the mighty sword of one of the ancient Avatars cut the Hellfire Rift, leaving its hilt to form the great volcano at its end near Nightshade Pass, what was left of this forgotten city (including its enigmatic and colossal statue) still clung to the edges of the newly-made volcanic canyon. But in the many centuries that followed the ruins and its vast statue slowly subsided toward the center of the Rift and down into the lava.  Though the buildings themselves slowly crumbled, the Colossus was made of sterner stuff, crafted with arcane techniques using specially-fitted blocks to withstand the terrible shaking of the worldly firmament itself.  It stands to this day as a testament to those powerful ancient arts, and tales even tell that it inspired the Titans of old, as well as the creation of the Oracle with its sacred feminine theme.

This scene is now live in Release 42!
