Kazara created the topic: FFXIV's future plans beyond the 3.0 Heavensward explained

I figured this news might generate some interest over at /r/mmorpg too!

Firstly, the 3.0 to 4.0 patch series cycle will be shorter than the 2.0 to 3.0 cycle (2.0 to 3.0 cycle lasts roughly a year and 9 months). The dev team is shifting to an annual release schedule for expansions as they feel it would better fit the often busy schedules of modern gamers.
3 month intervals between major patches to continue in the future. Between major patches there will also continue to be 2-3 minor patches.
Expansions are more like WoW's rather than FFXI's in volume (e.g. a whole new game at the release instead of implementing the expansion content over-time).
Expansions and major content patches will feel like blockbuster movies. Big changes changes happening in a short amount of time.

My translation below:

Starting from Heavensward, the dev team is planning to introduce more contents unique to FFXIV now that they feel a proper foundation is in place. Yoshi-P thinks that there will be more trial-and-error involved when ironing out these type of contents however.

Thanks to u/The47thSen for providing the translations.

And the Deep State whispered to Trump “You can’t withstand the storm”, to which Trump replied
“I am the storm”
